BID projects
Please find information below regarding completed BID projects.
Superfast Broadband
The BID funded the Superfast broadband upgrade to the entire industrial area and contracted Openreach to undertake the extensive upgrade meaning that all 190 of Beddington BID businesses benefitted saving local businesses a substantial amount of money as the alternative would be for each business to connect and upgrade individually.
Litter bins
The BID felt there was a litter problem in the BID area and a distinct lack of litter bins. As the Council had no plans to install we purchased litter bins throughout the BID area and Sutton Council added this onto their waste collection regime free of charge. If you feel your road or estate would benefit from a litter bin please inform us so that we can arrange.
Security
The BID funds mobile security patrols of the BID area 7pm-6am Monday-Sunday. This security measure means that Beddington BID area has a continuous security presence at night. A new security firm SWL Security Ltd will commence the security patrols in May 2019. Thank you to All Security Ltd who provided our patrols for the last 2 years and will work for the BID until the end of April 2019. All Security Ltd: www.swlsecurity.com
Smart water
The BID purchased 1 pack of Smart Water for each business. These will be distributed by hand by the newly appointed Beddington BID security firm SWL Security Ltd in Spring 2019.
Sponsorship
The BID has sponsored the new ‘Women Mean Business Awards’ that Sutton BID and Sutton Council are leading on. Our award category will recognise the female business owners and employees within the Beddington BID area and we will notify all businesses when nominations open. The award ceremony will be in Autumn 2019.
Police car
Police can access the Beddington BID area during their regular daily patrols by foot or by bus. We appreciate that this is not the quickest or most efficient way of getting around. A nearby BID, in Kimpton Industrial Park, had sponsored a patrol vehicle for the Police and the Beddington BID Board have been considering this. In 2019 Beddington BID will purchase an electric car and the Police will use this. As part of this arrangement Beddington BID area will benefit from at least one patrol of our BID area per shift. The vehicle will have Metropolitan Police branding and also clearly state that it has been sponsored by Beddington BID.
Signage
We felt that Beddington lacked a brand, identity and that way finding was not the easiest around the different business parks and roads that make up our BID area. Design JD were appointed to design a way finding signage programme for the BID area. Beddington BID and Sutton Council have each paid 50% of the total project costs which is a fantastic example of the public and private sector working together. Planning permission is currently being considered by LBS and the manufacture and install will take place during Spring / Summer 2019. The new Beddington BID signage project includes map boards, directional signage, the BID area being divided up into different zones and vastly improves the accessibility of the BID area. The full project can be viewed under the Downloads section.
Other projects
In 2019 we will also be arranging for graffiti removal, upgrading the exiting public highway CCTV cameras to ANPR cameras and commissioning quality landscaping throughout the BID area.
